Cult

cult Robert Knepper has always been one freaky guy, and his new show, Cult, is no exception.  When he starred on FOX 47′s Prison Break, he was a creepy pedophile.  When he was on NBC’s Heroes, he was also a freak.  Now, he stars on Cult as, get this, Roger Reeves who plays Billy Grimm on the show Cult.

So, this show is about a show within a show.  Cult follows Jeff’s search for his brother who went missing after getting involved with the rabid fan base of the new show, called Cult.  Yeah, shameless self promotion, but I can’t blame them.

If you can follow along, the show is actually pretty good, with a decent set of actors, especially Robert Knepper.  I hope CW Rochester can hold onto this show.  This show is running against FOX 47′s The Following.  Both shows are about cults, but very, very different!

The Following…Can’t Wait For MORE!!!

This show was FREAKY!!! Wonderful, but FREAKY! When they described this show to be O. M. G. I first thought okay, nothing can be that good. Beyond description. Well…I was wrong. I normally multitask and have my computer open while I’m watching a show. I had the computer open, but didn’t look at it. This show was just SO, SO compelling.

This is Kevin Bacon’s first time starring in a TV show. But I have to tell you, this show does NOT feel like a TV show. It feels like a movie. I can’t wait for next week. FOX is going to air all 14 episodes in 14 weeks. I am impressed…and can’t wait.

Also, FOX broke the mold. They actually acknowledged that people own DVRs.

Check it out here.

The Mindy Project – Story of a Girl

I am a big Office fan. Steve Carell as Michael Scott – funny guy! John Krasinksi as Jim Halpert – hilarious! Rainn Wilson as Dwight – priceless! It’s great. The show has people I don’t like as well. Topping the list is Paul Lieberstein as Toby. Not a good character. Second on the list? Mindy Kaling as Kelly Kapoor. She was so dumb. The show could have completely existed without her.

So, when FOX announced it was picking up The Mindy Project, I was not completely excited. Granted I need to be excited about most shows, but this one was not on the top of my list. The previews of the show made Mindy sound whiney. I gave the pilot (which aired on FOX 47 last night) another chance. Why would I watch a show I didn’t think sounded good? Well besides the fact that I work at the TV station, I found out that Mindy Kaling writes her own material. I never realized that. Now, having watched the show again (I watched the pilot a couple of monthes ago…hey working at a TV station has its perks), I am impressed. The words coming out of her mouth are HER words, not something some writer in a dark room thought she should be saying. It made me look at her AND the show completely differently. I am impressed. This is a story of a smart girl trying to make it in the world. I like it!

Go On

Okay, when I first heard about the show Go On, I thought, What a BAD idea for a TV show! I’m serious. The concept is a guy, Ryan King (Matthew Perry), is a radio sports dj who loses his wife. And his time is now spent in group therapy. Hello! Who wants to listen to a bunch of people talk about how bad their lives are? I have had my own bad life, losing a 3 year old nephew to a drunk driver, losing an 11 day old niece, losing a 1 month old niece (who was named after me) and losing my father. Why do I want to hear about people who have dealt with junk like that?

Well…now I know why. I watched the pilot of Go On. I thought it was one of the worst shows I’d seen until Matthew Perry interacts with Owen (Tyler James Williams, AKA Everybody Hates Chris). Owen’s brother was in an accident and is now in a coma. You HAVE to watch the pilot up to the end. When Ryan King, Owen and everyone from group therapy go running after the Google car, it’s priceless. Give Go On a chance. You won’t regret it.

The Talk Goes Makeup FREE

I felt the overwhelming urge to post this the minute I saw it on TV. The cast of the talk went makeup free on TV!!! I have to admire those ladies. Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood, Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen and Aisha Tyler are wonderful ladies. They also got their guests to go makeup free. Jamie Lee Curtis and three soap opera beauties. Jamie Lee Curtis brought out facial wipes to verify no one cheated and everyone was totally makeup free!

New Idol Cast Announced

As we say goodbye to Jennifer Lopez and Steven Taylor, we welcome Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban to the table.

Every year that Idol updates their judges table, it’s always interesting to see what the new chemistry will be. Steven Tyler certainly showed a softer side than he is normally thought to have. And Jennifer Lopez was…well Jennifer Lopez. It will definately be a different kind of Idol with pop star Mariah Carey, country star Keith Urban and rap star Nicki Minaj. I can’t wait!

FOX 47 Fall

So, as I think I’ve said, I work at FOX 47, but I am and always have been a TV addict. Here is what we can expect for FOX 47′s fall line up.

MONDAYS
We’ve got Bones coming back strong. She was on the run and in the spots I’ve seen for the upcoming episode, she’s BLOND! LOL! Then we’ve got Mob Doctor. Okay, this show should be interesting. We’ve had shows about doctors and shows about the mob, now you’ve got one that combines both.

TUESDAYS
Laugh your FOX off!!! I’m a Raising Hope fan, so I can’t wait! Ben and Kate LOOKS great! I’ve actually seen the pilot. WONDERFUL stuff! New Girl—gotta LOVE Jess. Then you have The Mindy Project. Mindy Kaling is from The Office. I didn’t realize she actually did a lot of writing. I’ve seen this pilot also. It’s going to be a hit.

WEDNESDAYS
X FACTOR!!! Good stuff going on. You have Britney Spears coming to the show. She’s going to bring drama. Then you’ve got Demi Levato. Not a lot of people know who Demi is. For those of you with questions, Demi is from Disney. She was on the show Sunny With A Chance. She had some problems (eating disorder, major depression) and stepped out of the limelight to get help. Got to give her credit for that. Having the two younger ladies on the show with Simon is going to be great. I guess Simon’s new nickname is Gramps!

THURSDAYS
X Factor again…followed by Glee. Took them long enough to move the musical show of Glee behind a musical reality show. Anyways, I guess we haven’t lost the graduates. The show follows Rachel in New York AND continues to follow the students in Ohio. Going to be a great year!

FRIDAYS
Touch—I LOVE TOUCH. Keifer is great. The show has now moved to the west coast where they meet up with a new friend. Fringe looks AWESOME! The show is coming to an end. This is one of those shows that somehow continued to live on even though it seemed to have a limited storyline. They are going to go out with a BANG!

SATURDAYS
Sports! You can check out My View of the Sports Scene if you’d like more info on Saturday Night Sports. We have a lot of college football. It looks like it will be fun.

SUNDAYS
Animation Domination lives on. We’ve got The Cleveland Show, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and American Dad.

X Factor starts tomorrow night on FOX. All the other shows start to follow after that. I can’t wait. It’s a TV addict’s dream! New programming!

Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay

Now don’t get me wrong. Gordon Ramsay is a smart guy, knows cooking and knows what quality is, but what’s his deal with Hotel Hell? There have been six episodes and in five of them he has stripped down to nothing and jumped in the shower or bath. Granted they pixelize everything out, but still. This is supposed to be a show about how to make hotels better.

Well at any rate, he’s a good looking guy and I guess that showing a little is definately a FOX move!

Hello E-world!

Skipper with Wrong Way Feldman

Hello again!  It’s been quite awhile since i’ve had a blog, but I am back again.

Just a little bit about me and and why I am kinda qualified to blog…

I grew up watching TVLand.   Yes, I said TVLand.  I grew up watching reruns of Brady Bunch, My Three Sons, Dennis the Menace, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Gilligan’s Island, Batman, Max Headroom and more… I was a TV geek.  You will still hear me say “Wrong way, Wrongway”.  (A quote from Gilligan’s Island for the uninitiated.)  I also watched what my older siblings watched…reruns of Big Valley, Beauty and the Beast (the old real life show from the 80s), MASH, Dallas, the list goes on.  We were one of the first people in the neighborhood to get cable.  Sad, sad, I know…

Now, I still watch TV.  Everything from Raising Hope to Supernatural to Law & Order:SVU.  I love Gordan Ramsey shows.  (He seems to be on FOX 47 all the time!)  I watch a lot of TV…more than I’d like to admit…Psych, The Lying Game, Melissa & Joey, The Office, Big Bang Theory, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, Next Food Network Star, Rizzoli & Isles, True Blood, New Girl, Touch, The Glads, Lingo, Destination Truth…the list goes on and on and on and on….

So in other words, I will share my thoughts on shows and see what everyone else thinks…  Hope you like it!
